You Gotta Eat: Country Club Barbeque

WEST PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) — In this week’s “You Gotta Eat,”I take you to a familiar spot in West Peoria.

This latest review just might leave you craving barbeque. Take a look.

What you see here are award winning wings!

Here’s a closer look.

This is what put Country Club Barbeque in West Peoria on the map. The wings here are so good they’ve won “Wingfest” for the last two years. But it’s not just the wings the customers love here.

“We just go to a different place about every two weeks and try it all out,” said customer Terry Richards.

Customers want them hot, fresh and falling off the bone…and that’s just what they get.

“I said that I wanted them tender so, they’re very good here,” said customer Joyce Shane.

Clay Dobelstein is the co-owner of Country Club Barbeque. He and his partner describe the food here as “barbeque with a twist”. But their barbeque eggrolls are sizzling as well.

“It’s our smoked pork, our coleslaw, rolled up in wonton wrap. And those have won “Taste of Peoria” the last three years running,” he said.

And what’s barbeque without a good sauce?

No worries…they’ve got you covered with four homemade sauces.

“We’ve got our Blueberry Moonshine, we’ve got our Carolina IPA, we’ve got out Dark Ale and we’ve got our Root Beer Reduction,” Dobelstein said.

But it’s their blueberry moonshine sauce that the customers seem to love the most.

I ordered the two meat plate with chicken and pulled pork. It came with two sides.

I chose the mac and cheese and their homemade tater tots…. along with an order of their famous wings.

Mmmmmmm! It was so good!

If this restaurant looks familiar to you…it was once a college nightclub for about 7 to 8 years.

In 2014, the owners built a kitchen inside, and they have been selling award winning food ever since.
