Pretty good day to be out fishing especially fishing for a good cause.
This was banner marsh state fish and wildlife area today.
Team fishing to raise money for OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
The event was hosted by the Fraternal Order of Police, organized by a former Peoria County Sheriff’s deputy who used to work crimes against children.
“Banner Marsh gets an awful lot of activity. And you can see by the traffic here, on how many people fish. So we might as well take people that are fishing and get into their pockets to help the children a little bit,” said Steve Schmidt, event organizer.
He said they were expecting to raise about $500 600.
They drew more than 40 competitors.
One boat hauled in more than 23 pounds of fish today.
