Greed. Hate. And murder.
That’s why prosecutor brad Rigdon says Kirk Zimmerman murdered his ex-wife over four years ago at her office.
Rigdon gave the state’s closing argument in front of a packed courtroom.
In his two-hour statement Rigdon pointed out that Kirk Zimmerman lied to detectives about leaving his house, what he was doing the night of the shooting, and repeatedly dodged questions.
Rigdon said Zimmerman was losing money, over $2000 a month.
And his ex-wife was asking for more in child support.
Rigdon also reminded the jury that digital records from his car show Kirk Zimmerman drove to Indiana, where Rigdon says he bought a gun.
Those records also show Zimmerman’s car was not at his home when Pam Zimmerman was shot.
When it was the defense’s turn, they repeatedly argued a lack of any credible evidence linking Kirk Zimmerman to pam’s death.
Attorney john rogers jokingly referred to Kirk Zimmerman as ‘James Bond’ on several occasions, insisting the state must think hes a super spy for leaving behind no evidence…
Rogers also argued Bloomington police had their eyes set on Kirk Zimmerman from the start. And neglected to follow leads on Pam Zimmerman’s last client, and her new fiance.
Rogers called the prosecution’s case unorganized and bizarre.
As far as the dire financial situation the state argued at Kirk’s motive, Rogers said their expert witness manipulated the numbers to make it look far worse than it was misleading the court.
Rogers did not address why Kirk Zimmerman went to Indiana or why his car was not at home the night of the murder.
