Bloomington and Normal residents have a chance to vote on how best to spend about a million dollars of city improvement money.
Every five years, the twin cities get money through the Federal Community Development Block Grant.
This money can be used for many aspects of city life – from infrastructure improvement, housing development, and homeless assistance, among others – as long as it’s for the benefit of all residents.
“It’s really a Swiss-army-knife for addressing different needs you have in your community,” explained Associate Town Planner for Normal, Taylor Long. “Chicago, Peoria – any municipality of a certain population that gets funding like this, it’s meant to serve your local needs.”
All you have to do is complete a short survey.
