Bloomington Police are now on the ‘Neighbors’ app by Ring

The Bloomington Police Department said they joined the ‘Neighbors’ app by Ring on Monday. While Ring has a free neighborhood watch app, the company is most known for its video door-bell security systems.

Bloomington Police said you can text ‘bloomingtonpd’ to 555888 to download the free app on iOD and Android smartphones. From there, you can join your own neighborhood group where you can share crime and safety-related information. That includes video and photo sharing. In addition, you can get safety alerts from neighbors and local law enforcement through the app.

Bloomington Police Chief, Clay Wheeler, said in a statement,

“The Neighbors app by Ring is a great way for our department to provide our community with real-time local crime information as well as an efficient way to share crime related videos with each other,” said Bloomington Police Chief Clay Wheeler. “We can help reduce crime by working directly with our citizens, in person and online.”

The app also allows users to see local crime and safety info on an interactive map.
