Peoria Public Schools is working to raise money for upgrades to Peoria Stadium, and will soon be getting bids for one of them.
“There’s a lot of great things to celebrate,” Superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat says. “But, we do need some funds to continue.”
They’re budgeting for several improvements, including a roof for the grandstand that could cost between $5-6 million. School board members say they plan to solicit bids in the next 4-6 weeks. A $250,000 NFL grant would cover a new artificial turf field, if they win it.
They also hope to install a digital sign that could generate ad revenue.
Dr. Kherat says they will work with Sen. Dave Koehler (D, Peoria) to find state funding.
