PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) — A new 35-foot tall beacon may soon usher people into Northwoods Mall from its Sterling Avenue entrance.
Ryan Vande Bosche of Washington Prime Group is asking the Peoria City Council for permission to install a new 35-foot tall sign at the mall’s entrance on Sterling. His request also includes permission for two more, identical signs at yet-to-be-determined locations.
Bosche also wants to replace an existing Northwoods Mall sign at the mall’s Scenic Drive entrance. That sign would not be 35 feet tall.
The height limit for signs is typically 25 feet. Building a larger sign requires a special use permit.
The Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5-0 to approve a special use permit for the sign. The matter goes before the Peoria City Council on Tuesday.
