Alex Trebek announces Stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis

Alex Trebek, the longtime host of Jeopardy!, has announced he has Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Trebek, who has hosted the quintessential American quiz for more than three decades, made the announcement Wednesday on YouTube.

“Normally the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this. And I’m going to keep working,” Trebek said.

He says he plans to beat the low survival rate statistics of the disease. He then joked that by contract, he has to.

“Under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy! for 3 more years,” he said.

He asked for prayers and support from friends, family and viewers.

“Help me keep the faith. And we will win and get it done,” he said.
