Only three days after a car drove through the place, a local fast food stop is back open.
You might see some plywood on the windows at Moe’s Southwestern grill in Normal on Bradford lane.
But you’ll also see customers again, taking advantage of reduced price burritos as the owner tires to get back to business.
They’ve been busy, all right, explaining the issue – a car drove into the lobby Tuesday – while also directing contractors on paint, electrical and drywall work Wednesday.
New, temporary furniture added and floors cleaned on Thursday.
“Once we got the glass out of here and the car out of here, you realized it wasn’t quite as devastating as it had appeared to be,” said owner Ken Solem.
A Toyota SUV was inside the restaurant, glass everywhere around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The owner says there were 14 to 15 people inside at the time of the crash.
Two walls still have to be replaced inside, a process that could take another four weeks.
So far, he has no estimate from his insurance company.
Police tell 25News all of the injured customers were treated and released.
The driver, an elderly woman, apparently hit the gas instead of the brake.
She was not cited.
