Students at Woodruff Career and Technical Center will have the chance to engage in mock sentencing hearings with a retired judge.
According to a release from the Peoria Public Schools PR department, many students at Woodruff are currently enrolled in the Introduction to Criminal Justice class. In this class, students learn various aspects of the legal system. Starting this upcoming Monday December 17th at 8:45 a.m. the students will hold mock trials to put their knowledge of the legal system to work.
Retired judge Glenn Collier will act as the presiding judge while the students fulfill the roles of defense attorney, prosecutor, defendant, witnesses and even the probation officer.
