Credible sexual abuse allegations force three local Catholic priests to step down

Three retired priests were advised to step down from public ministry in the Catholic Diocese of Peoria due to credible allegations of sexual abuse of a minor against them.

Former Father George Hiland, Duane Leclercq and John Onderko can no longer function as Catholic priests in any public space. All three are unable to wear clerical garb or the Roman collar and they all must refrain from using the title Reverend or Father.

Onderko allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct of a minor approximately 55 years ago.  Hiland allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor 50 years ago, while Leclercq allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor 30 years ago.
