A white powder seized from a Texas woman in a Galesburg parking lot in July tested positive on fentanyl testing.
The Galesburg Police Department said the 521 grams of the substance seized from Anna Barton, 44, tested positive as the drug in the Illinois State Police Crime Lab. It can be fatal even in small amounts if it comes into contact with someone’s skin.
Barton was charged at the time with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and several other charges. She was sentenced to 6 years in state prison.
Barton is eligible for parole in 2021.
