Princeville community grieving after double homicide

The Princeville community is grieving after the double homicide of a Bradley University professor and her husband.

Susan Brill de Ramirez, an English professor at Bradley, and her husband, Bradley IT employee Antonio Ramirez Barron, were reported missing Sunday night amid signs of a struggle at their rural Princeville home. Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell said their son, Jose Ramirez, 21, later confessed to killing his parents early Friday. Matthew Roberts, 20, was also arrested for concealment of a homicidal death and obstruction of justice.

In a Facebook post, Princeville Community Unit School District 326 released this statement:

Our hearts break for those families directly impacted by this tragedy that happened over the past few days. May you find peace during the difficult time and accept our deepest sympathy.

As we all work to process this great tragedy, it is important to know that no one needs to grieve alone. Our community is strong and we will lean on each other, as we always have, to help work through this horrendous, unimaginable situation.

The post also included a link for help dealing with grief.

A bond hearing is set for Ramirez and Roberts on Tuesday. Officials are searching for the bodies of de Ramirez and Barron in Henry County, north of Kewanee.
