McLean canine mascot’s body found, owner grateful for closure

A mixture of heartbreak and relief Saturday night out of McLean, as word spread of a missing Rottweiler. He had been found, but not in the condition many in Central Illinois hoped for.

We first brought you the story of Kane last month – the Rottweiler-turned-mascot for Ruby’s Rescue & Retreat in rural McLean.

Saturday evening, a farmer found Kane’s body in a nearby field.

Kane was returned to his owner, Jean Ann Hert. While she wants to know what happened, she was grateful to have him back and have closure.
