When it comes to driving under the influence, McLean County cracks down harder than almost anywhere else in the state of Illinois.
A survey by the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists shows McLean County had the second-highest DUI arrest rate in the state in 2017, with an average 4.47 DUI arrests per sworn officer. Only Winnebago County in far northern Illinois rated higher.
The Town of Normal had the fifth-highest DUI arrest rate by municipality, with just over 3 arrests per sworn officer. The Chicago suburb of Lombard ranked first.
