Fourth of July is this Wednesday and you can’t celebrate without fireworks. On Saturday night, the Marquette Heights Men’s Club gave everyone a sneak peak at its annual extravaganza. The event took three days to set up and featured hundreds of individual fireworks, all launched into the sky from the baseball diamonds at Independence Park in Marquette Heights.
Organizer Scott Little said the show’s smaller size creates a unique viewing experience.
"It’s a smaller show in the fact that you are closer, you can get up close and personal with our fireworks, and when it’s over, you don’t have to fight that big of a crowd to leave," said Little.
Organizers expect 7,000 spectators to turn out for this year’s fireworks show.
